Trinity Class President, Ryan McCann

The Better Business Bureau of New Hampshire has announced that Ryan McCann of North Hampton, NH has been awarded a 2010 Student Ethics Scholarship Award.  Actio Corporation, striving to encourage talent in the community, congratulates Ryan.

"Ryan's drive and success on the field and off the field is inspiring not just to athletes but to business people as well," said Chris Comtois, PMP, Actio Software Corporation's Head of Project Management, who directs the company's annual charity drive for the Special Olympics.

"Participating in the greater community is so important," said Comtois. "It's great to see someone like Ryan giving so much of his time and energy to developing both character and craft."

Ryan was selected to receive the annual $2,500 scholarship award from among the highly competitive pool of student candidates on overall integrity and having demonstrated strong character, leadership and ethical values.

Applicants are initially evaluated based on criteria including: academic achievements, school activities, community service, and work experience. Judges selected Ryan as one of four state finalists in response to his written position statement regarding ethics in business.

Ryan continues his leadership at Trinity College in Hartford, CT as freshman class president. Previously, he was a 2009 honors graduate and four year varsity athlete of Berwick Academy  in Berwick, ME, and a 2010 honors post-graduate and two sport varsity athlete of Phillips Exeter Academy  in Exeter, NH.

A student-athlete he is a member of the varsity swim team participating in the New England Small College Conference in backstroke, fly and freestyle sprint events.  Earlier this month the team participated in the Hour of Power Relay event to support cancer research.  Ryan has been a member of Dover’s Seacoast Swimming Association for six years.
